Lab Values and Culture
The Neal Lab is an environment in which we conduct rigorous and impactful scientific research by working as a team of respected companions that we uplift and trust.
We aim to promote growth and community-mindedness with respect to our research activities and the development of our personnel.
Our team is built on a foundation of mutual respect and general kindness, facilitating effective communication and decision making.
We approach our science with rigor, and we provide each other with thoughtful and constructive feedback as we collectively generate new ideas and advance ongoing projects in the lab.
We encourage trainees to attend interdisciplinary seminars and meetings and to read literature outside of our immediate field of study as a means to connect with future collaborators, colleagues, and friends, and to ensure that our scientific endeavors are in tune with the broader scientific perspective.
We endeavor to foster trainee confidence such that intrinsic curiosity can evolve into initiative as individuals develop into independent researchers.
Location
We are part of the Department of Neuroscience & Physiology at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Our main wet lab space is located on the 4th floor of the NRB (Bay 4638) and Dr. Neal's office is nearby in Room 4603.
